During the world cup finals I was driving around looking for an Italian bar to watch the game, it took me a while to find one since Americans weren't interested in the world cup. I passed thru little italy and it was deserted, everyone was indoors watching the game, only I didn't know where to go. As I was about to give up I stumbled upon this little Italian bar in Manyunk, a small posh town 10 mins from downtown Philly. Very nice place. Unfortunately, by the time I parked the car and walked to the bar there were only the last few minutes to the game. I did join in the celebrations ;)

He needs to change his tires after all that smoke!

They all ran through the streets shouting "Italia! Italia!"

They stopped every car that passed by and jumped on the hood.

They even stopped a bus and had the driver open its door. They ran through the bus.

When the cops passed by they were all quiet all of a sudden. Once the cops passed through they continued running through the streets. One guy road his porsche o shafa6 tishifi6 in the middle!

It was a very exciting day!

I spent some time in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while in the States over the summer. I had a good time and took a few pix. Enjoy!

Philly is well known for their Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches so I was taken to a couple of restaurants that are famous for their sandwiches and they're located right across from each other. Pat's & Geno's.

I know it has been a while since i last blogged but for some reason all ideas seem to disappear once i sit infront of the PC.

I've spent my summer in the States & London..i had a BLAST! Might post about it later on. I will show u the boring pics, sorry no wild pics ..what happens in London staaaaaaaays in London ;p

My room has also been redesigned this summer which i will post with pictures another day.

Our cook is back in Kuwait! YaaY back to the good food. Yireesh & warag 3nab all the way. I will post a pic of our cook only if there is enuf demand :p

I'm starting my MBA end of September & i'm not sure i'll be in a studying mood by then. It's been 6 years since I graduated! Sheesh that long!

Ramathan is coming up & im really looking forward to it :)

Newborn Kitty!

Found it just outside the house. Antz were walking all over it. So i bought it in, gave it a bath, fed it & took it to the vet. I called PAWS because i dont think i'll be able to take care of it much longer. Im too worried it'll die if it's not given proper care. So i'm waiting for PAWS to call me back for further info, they're very helpful. It's so tiny!

Orange Pride

So yesterday I passed by the Orange Thingy and I was very impressed. Some were really there for the cause others were there to flirt and some were trying to figure out who the bloggers, if any, were.

It was very organized and everyone was in high spirits. The organizers did a great job :)

As for the sleep over, that was interesting to see. I heard they really enjoyed it with Oud playing and singing into the night. The next day they woke up to the smell of breakfast.

I hope they get their 5 for all their hard work :)

Hayat is Back!!

The charity sale is back on track! The sale of home accessories and home made goods will be held tomorrow at Qortuba Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah's Hall and all proceeds will go to cancer patients being treated at Makki Jum3a Hospital.

Monday 8th: Opening at 7pm
Tuesday 9th & Wed 10th: 9.30 am – 12.30pm & 5pm – 9pm

I noticed something at work. All Kuwaiti employees arrive at work at least 15 to 30 minutes late and the foreign employees are on time! Hehehe im one of the late ones ..shasawi a girl needs her time to get ready ;p plus i plan on taking over my manager's position so I might as well start acting like it hehehe.

Im not saying that Kuwaitis are lazy and not productive but we are laid back when it comes to working hours. Once we're in the office it's a different story :)

On April the 3rd till the 5th a charity event will be held in Qortuba at Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah's Hall next to the Supermarket where hand-made items and home-made sweets will be sold. All proceeds will go to cancer patients who are being treated at Makki Jum3a Hospital.

April 3rd: The opening will be held at 7.00 pm
April 4th & 5th: 9.30am - 12.30pm & 4.00pm - 9pm

The past couple of weekends, my cousin & i have been going to starbux bidi3 to just check out the people and basically laugh! It has been a freak show. Guys and girls wearing some outrageous outfits. We gave a few of them some nicknames:

- I'm too sexy for my shirt: The guy was wearing a D&G white shirt and in the back it read "sexylove" in bling.

- Barbie: The girl was wearing a pink dress that reached just above her knees, at the bottom is was puffed up.

- Casanova: The guy had a very coloful shirt on with on side tucked in and the other left out. I guess he wanted to show off his Gucci belt.

- Lady in red: Need I say anymore? Red outfit, red lipstick, red red red!

- Pervert: Granted that's every guy there! But this guy was old and he wanted some teenage boys to sit with him at the table.

- Girl with toilet paper stuck at her shoe: I couldn't stop laughing and the guys sitting at the table next to us couldn't either!

- Sean Paul: The guy was wearing Jamaica style pants and shirt. He was livin' it!

- 50 cent: He was very short but he really believed he was 50.

- Lesbos: These two girls came in and basically took all the guys at strabux with them upstairs. Every guy's fantasy came true that night.

There are a few more but I got tired of listing them. The scene there has been very entertaining :)

Yesterday I went to the dentist for cleaning and ended up with a root canal! It was painful :( The doc had to inject me 3 times with mokhadir becoz i kept feeling the pain everytime he drilled. I then bit his fingers by mistake lol shasawi my mouth was open all the time ta3abt! My mouth was numb all night..i couldnt eat or drink :\ it suxed!

Why are guys such a disappointment? It's as if they were made at the same factory. They have the following quote stamped on their butts "I'm selfish, arrogant and way too proud for you."

Why is it that when everything is going so well suddenly they panic and bail out? What's wrong with u? Then, when they realize that they've lost someone special they regret what they've done but are too proud to do anything about it.

And they don't know how to communicate. They always think that women want to fight becoz they've decided to have the "talk". They run away from everything. Losers!

Oh and let's not forget the cheating because "I'm a man!" I can screw around with 3 or 4 women and they're all dumb enuf not to find out about each other. Yeah well u just wait becoz that's going to come and bite u in the ass later on loser.

A SENIOR Brisbane banker facing a lengthy jail term for theft has been allowed to accept a lucrative overseas job to work off his debts before he is sentenced.

Jason Richard Huigens, 39, will soon travel to the Middle East to take up the $190,000 a year position with the National Bank of Kuwait so he can repay the $133,640 he stole from the St George Bank! in 2005.

The theft occurred while Huigens was working as a liaison officer with the bank's large corporate clients.

He used the money to pay for a chronic gambling addiction he has battled since he was 28.

Huigens must return to Brisbane by August 18 when District Court Judge Julie Dick will sentence him for three counts of fraud with a circumstance of aggravation arising from the thefts.

He pleaded guilty to all offences yesterday.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Attorney-General's department said there was no extradition treaty between Australia and Kuwait.

The Crown is asking that Huigens be sent to jail for between four and five years.

Judge Dick opted to adjourn the sentence after defence barrister John Greenwood, QC, argued Huigens had no prospect of repaying any of the outstanding $105,273 if he was sent to jail immediately.

Around $28,000 has already been repaid.

Mr Greenwood asked for the sentencing to be adjourned to allow his client to accept the job in Kuwait – a country that does not allow gambling.

Crown Prosecutor Matthew Price was cautious about the proposal, telling the court he was concerned about the lack of support for Huigens overseas and the danger of him not returning to Brisbane for his sentence.

But Judge Dick said while she understood that concern, the reality was he could have accepted the position in Kuwait and fled Australia before yesterday's proceedings but hadn't.

She granted the adjournment but warned Huigens that even if he managed to repay some of his debt to St George during his overseas stint, he would almost certainly still be going to jail.

"It is never the case that a person, by paying compensation, can buy their way out of jail," Judge Dick said.

"(But) he's in a precarious position and he's entitled to put everything before me (including attempts at restitution) that will help his position.

"It's my belief, even with the payment of compensation, I would be very surprised if it was said it was within my sentencing discretion to enforce a non-custodial sentence."

She said it was not unusual to grant adjournments mid-sentence – it is often done for drug offenders to allow them to attend rehabilitation courses before sentencing.

In an affidavit tendered to the court, Huigens said the new job offer came out of the blue – he received a call from an international recruitment agency and eventually accepted the job as the bank's corporate banking senior relationships manager.

A copy of the letter of offer from the National Bank of Kuwait, dated December 12, was tendered to the court yesterday.

Huigens, who married in January, said the Kuwait package equated to $190,483 a year, not including bonuses, which can equate to up to five months' basic salary a year.

"I can't gamble and I can make full restitution to St George Bank," Huigens wrote. "I would dearly l! ike to be able to take up my position in Kuwait as I think everyone wins.

"I can repay my debts in full, work in a non-gambling country and finally I believe I will get my life back on track much better than a term in jail would accomplish."

Outside court, Huigens vowed to be back in Australia by August.

He told The Courier-Mail he was doing "everything in my power to set things right".

"Like it was said in court, I could have left already if I'd wanted to, but I haven't."

I got my apple :D It arrived yesterday ..let me just say it's GORGEOUS! It arrived, I opened it and what did I find? My little brother decided to make things just a little bit harder for me. He put a password on my apple and the only way I can log on is if I can solve the riddle. Yes, my brother loves playing these little pranks on me ;p The whole family gathered to solve the riddle and within an hour my mother solved it! ;)

I just got a phone call from Alqabas newspaper and they want to interview me and a bunch of other Kuwaiti girls who work in the investment field. I wanted to say no so badly but she decided to mention that she got my name from our chairman, then I had to say yes because I didn't want the chairman to know that I refused them when he's the one who gave them my name.

I hate being in the newspaper. I'm just glad there won't be a picture taken :D The lady said she's gona fax the questions over, inshalla the fax doesn't reach me, then I have an excuse not to participate!

On the other hand, I'm glad they're working on this column. It's about time we investment women got recognized! ;p

I just realized that Kuwait has been living on Alshayi3! Seriously when they closed up all the restuarants and shops I think many people felt lost and bored. There were many people with withdrawl symptoms because of Starbux.

While I was going up the elevator to work today a couple of guys were holding the huge starbux cup, 4got what it's called. I thought it was funny. They were deprived of their morning coffee and now they're making up for it!

Doodling

I enrolled myself in a drawing class. Yesterday was my first day. I really enjoyed it! The instructor believes I have potential if I continue learning and practicing. I think i'll pursue it further and see what comes out of it. Seriously I need to accomplish something .. as of yet I can't say I've done something I'm proud of, not that i've been doing shady things but nothing of substance.
I always start on something and then get bored and stop. Maybe drawing will be my long term hobby.

U know if i reach a good enuf level I will draw a caricature of the bloggers that i know lol that should be fun. It will however be a while before i'll be able to do that.
